High winds and torrential rain on Saturday resulted in the cancellation of a number of races, but one of those which went ahead was a time trial organised by the North Road CC held on the F14/25 course, a 25 mile race held over a two lap course near Guilden Morden. As a result of the inclement weather conditions of the 86 riders entered for the race only 27 took to the start line. One of those was Ely rider Alison Fox, who finished the 25 mile race in a time of 1:13:52, giving her 21st place overall and leaving her as the 2nd fastest woman rider.
On Sunday, Harvey Woodroffe was racing for the second time this year at the Milton Keynes Bowl in a criterium race. Racing in Category C, for Under 12s, Woodroffe made it into the lead group from the start which was whittled down to 4 riders by the final lap. He timed his sprint well and took 3rd place by a matter of inches on the finish line.
Earlier on Sunday Ely Triathlon Club hosted its 115 Squadron Duathlon, involving a 5km run, a 25km bike ride, followed by another 5km run. A number of Ely & District Cycling Club - B&T Motor Repairs members took to the start. Paul Schofield, an EDCC member but racing for St. Ives on the day, was the overall winner in a time of 1:17:44. Leigh Marshall, racing under Ely Tri Club colours, was 28th in the men's race, only one second ahead of Geoff Brewster in 29th who finished 2nd in his age category. Chris Brown finished in 40th place in the men's race and Simon Hambling (also racing under the Ely Tri Club banner) took 69th position. In the women's race Alison Holmes finished in 28th position out of 54 competitors.
