PODIUM FINISH FOR BENNETT

Riders from the Ely & District Cycling Club - B&T Motor Repairs were competing in two time trials this weekend, a 10 mile event in Norfolk and a 25 mile race in Cambridgeshire.


The 10 mile race was hosted by Kings Lynn Cycling Club on the B10/37R course near Tottenhill. Darran Bennett finished the 10 mile course in 21 minutes 19 seconds to put him in second place overall. Bennett's time was 23 seconds fastest than the time he set in the same event in 2022 when he finished 4th. Rory Havis was the second fastest Ely rider on the day in a time of 22:13, putting him in 9th place, with John Manlow not that far behind with a time of 22:44 in 13th position. Robert Goult finished in 17th with a time of 26:10.


The 25 mile race took place on the F2A/25 course on the A428 near Cambourne and was organised by the Shaftesbury Cycling Club. Simon Butteriss finished in 7th place with a time of 50:46, a personal best for him on this course by over a minute. Will Shepherd stopped the clock on 58:02 to leave him in 46th place.
