THE CYCLOCROSS SEASON CONTINUES

The weather was cold but dry for the fifth round of the Eastern Cyclocross League held at West Stow Country Park near Bury Saint Edmunds, and there was another good turnout from members of the Ely & District Cycling Club - B&T Motor Repairs.

In a very competitive Under 12s race Harvey Woodroffe just missed out on a podium place, finishing in 4th, while Lucas Bowman equalled his best position of the season so far with 9th place. In the Youth race Tom Lewis and Kieran Vanhoutte made fast starts, despite starting from the second and third rows of the grid. Lewis took 4th place overall, with Kieran finishing in 22nd despite being one of the youngest riders in the field.

In the Senior category Isaac Barton and Joshua Woodroffe battled hard throughout the race with Barton finishing narrowly ahead at the flag, 29 seconds and one place ahead of Woodroffe in 56th and 57th places respectively.

Ferenc Vanhoutte finished in 36th place in the V40 category, despite crashing heavily during the race, while in the V50 category Neil Bowman saw a return to his early season form with 8th place in a massive 80 rider field.

The Eastern Cyclocross League continues with round 6 on the 14th November with a return to the Hilly Fields course in Colchester.
