TEAM WIN FOR ELY

Four Ely riders took parts in a 25 mile time trial organised by the Kings Lynn Cycling Club on Saturday. Held on the B25/33 course near Downham Market, the course features rolling single carriageway road and, on this occasion, wind, rain and occasionally hail for the riders to endure. Rob Golding was the fastest Ely rider on the day, finishing in a time of 58:17 which put him in 7th place overall. Derek Ricketts came agonisingly close to finishing the 25 miles in less than the magic hour mark, with a time of 1 hour and 2 seconds, to put him in 11th place. John Manlow finished in 19th place with a time of 1:01:23 and Rob Goult's time of 1:13:25 put him 30th overall. The combined times of Golding, Ricketts and Manlow were enough to give Ely the team prize.

On Sunday, junior rider Tom Lewis was racing in the sixth and final round of the Hillingdon Slipstreamers Spring Series, a road race event held on a closed circuit in Hillingdon. Lewis was riding close to the front of the pack for the whole race, helping to stop anyone from breaking clear of the pack. Unfortunately the race had to be abandoned with 2 laps to go due to a crash in the main bunch of riders on the start/finish straight, and so there were no results from that race. Nonetheless, Lewis's results from the previous rounds were enough to give him 1st place overall in the Under 16 male category for the series overall.
