Press Release 7th April 2021 - Easter racing for Ely riders

The relaxation of lockdown restrictions meant that time trial races could resume over the Easter weekend, and despite the cancellation of the Cambridge Cycling Club race on Easter Monday due to the adverse weather conditions, there were still two races in which members of the Ely & District Cycling Club - B&T Motor Repairs could compete.

The racing action started on Good Friday with a 10 mile race organised by the Kings Lynn Cycling Club held on the B10/37R course at Tottenhill. 27 riders took part, and Ely riders filled two of the podium places with John Manlow finishing second with a time of 23 minutes and 57 seconds followed closely by Derek Ricketts in 3rd place on a time of 24 minutes exactly. Will Shepherd was 7th in a time of 25:05 and Rob Goult in 11th in a time of 27:42.

The action continued on Easter Saturday, in another event organised by the Kings Lynn Cycling Club, this time a 25 mile race on the B25/33 course at Fincham. There were two Ely riders competing in this event, the faster of the two on the day being Rob Golding who finished under the hour mark in a time of 58:05 to give him 12th place on the day. Martin Holmes completed the course in 1 hour and 43 seconds and in 21st place overall.
