Ely & District Cycling Club - B&T Motor Repairs Press Release 24th August 2021
Round three of the Ashwell CCA summer Cyclocross series took place last Thursday. The penultimate round in the series saw the father and son duo of Neil and Lucas Bowman competing. Lucas was racing for the first time on a new bike, so the race was something of a learning experience for him, but he still finished 14th overall in the Junior race and 4th in the U12 category. Father Neil finished 6th overall in the Senior race and 1st in the V50 category.
Having elected to skip the cyclocross racing on Thursday Junior rider Harvey Woodroffe was back in action on Saturday in the Hackney Harvest circuit race at the Lee Valley Velopark in London. Racing in the U12 category, the pace was fast from the start and an attack on the first lap split the race apart. Harvey found himself riding alone in 3rd place and with the four lead riders all riding solo after 2 laps his race turned into an individual time trial to the finish. Harvey rode strongly to keep his 3rd place at the line.
With a start time of 7:56 am, Sunday saw an early start for John Manlow who was racing in the VC Barrachi 50 mile time trial on the B50/17 course near Bungay. Manlow completed the rolling 50 mile course in just under 2 hours with a time of 1:59:21 which put him in 9th place overall.
