The ECCA 10 mile Championship race was held on Saturday afternoon on the E2/10 course near Six Mile Bottom along the A11. Five members of the Ely & District Cycling Club - B&T Motor Repairs were competing in the event, and four took advantage of the fast conditions to set new distance personal bests.
Fastest Ely rider on the day was once again Darran Bennett who averaged over 30mph to finish the 10 mile course in a time of 19:37, shaving a slender 2 seconds off his previous best time for 10 miles, which put him in 10th place overall. Rory Havis was the second fastest Ely rider, finishing in a time of 20:24 to give him 32nd place overall, just in front of 37th place finisher John Manlow with a time of 20:32. Manlow's time was a distance personal best, as were Will Shepherd's time of 21:35 and Alison Fox's time of 23:36.
On Sunday afternoon Rob Golding was in Norfolk riding in the CC Breckland District Championship race on the B50/20, again on the A11 but this time further north near Attleborough. Golding completed the 50 mile race in a time of 1:47:01, giving him 12th place overall.
