Green light!

Traffic lights added another chance factor to the normal challenges facing a time triallist during Ely & District Cycling clubs latest event. Tuesday 24th June's race meeting went ahead with riders under threat of disqualification if road work lights in Haddenham were red. Marshalled by an ever vigilant Martin Holland, all riders respected the highway code and did their best to make up lost time when allowed through with a hill start to add to the pain!

Results of this week's 25 and 10 mile races are now up on the results page HERE. The next event for the club will be July 8th for two laps of the Mepal-Witcham circuit. Meet at least 15 minutes before the start time of 7:30p.m. at the Elean Industrial Estate, Sutton.
This event is designed specifically for those wanting to try out time trialling as one lap is just four miles in length. Riders of all abilities are very welcome to come along and enjoy the evening, just bring a bike and some determination.

2007 Trophy Awards

A wonderful night was had by the 21 members of Ely CC who joined Newmarket C&TC at the Rosery Hotel in Exning for the annual dinner, dance & prize giving.
The evening provided the perfect opportunity to dress in something other than lycra and applaud the efforts of Club members for their exploits throughout 2007.

A full compliment of club trophies were awarded, most poignant of which was the Junior 10 mile winner Ben Stephen who celebrated alongside his father, Andy who won the very same trophy 30 years ago!
Ben made quite an impression with the club during last season and will almost certainly be breaking his own personal bests throughout 2008 as he emulates his father's road career.
